Climate Coalition Mass Lobby

On 9th July members of XR Elmbridge joined the mass lobby of Parliament organised by the Climate Coalition.
Following our request, we - along with three other Elmbridge residents (representing eco-churches) - met with Monica Harding, MP for Esher and Walton, along with three of her researchers to discuss issues of concern re the climate emergency and the environment.

Topics discussed included: heat pumps, the  ‘Sunshine Bill, the reduction in the aid budget, windfall tax on fuel suppliers, the importance of having an efficient bus service outside of London and, what seemed of most interest to Monica, the issue of sewage spills (her view is that Thames Water should be taken into special measures).

Monica suggested a meeting in the constituency and the attendees are awaiting an invitation from her, which if not forthcoming will be followed up.
