Elmbridge Environmental Community Groups

  • * Oxshott Net Zero *

    We are a start-up of concerned Oxshott residents who want to encourage the whole village to do what we can to reduce our carbon emissions. We know that climate breakdown can feel overwhelming and that it is hard to get started on reducing our individual footprints. Knowing that we are working on this together as a village and sharing ideas to get us going may be just what we all need. As a charity we are aiming to celebrate what has already been achieved by local groups and individuals and to spur each other on in our future efforts.

  • Elmbridge Countryside Management

    If you care about your environment and want to do something to make a difference, why not join this group of countryside volunteers led by Elmbridge Council? They carry out a variety of conservation tasks across local countryside sites. Countryside Rangers will be on hand to answer any questions you might have about the tasks and the flora and fauna that will benefit from your work.

  • * Elmbridge Community Ecohub *

    The Eco Hub, situated in Walton, offers many opportunities to support the environment including a community garden, a Community Fridge redistributing food surplus, TerraCycle small item recycling, and a Book, Puzzle & Jigsaw Swap. It has a donation-based SESI household products Refill area. It is also home to a Library of Things, a Repair Café and Walton Litter Pickers.

  • The Lower Mole Partnership

    The Partnership is built up of a large and enthusiastic, dedicated volunteer group which carries out a wide range of practical conservation tasks to implement improvements to the local countryside, 3 days a week (Tues, Weds, Thurs), whatever the weather, throughout the year.

    The Lower Mole Countryside Trust is the dedicated registered charity partner of the Lower Mole Partnership.

  • * Walton Repair Café *

    Repair Café is an international network that champions repairing household items and textiles; and sharing the skills to do so.

    We are lucky enough to have a monthly Repair Cafê at the Walton Centre for thew Community. E-mail to book in your broken or damaged items for assessment and repair by our team.

  • Molesey Clothing Exchange

    The Molesey Clothing Exchange is at Refresh Centre in East Molesey every other month on the first Saturday from 10am - 2pm.

    We are a grassroots, not for profit, community group aiming to make the most of the textiles already in people’s wardrobes.

  • Cobham Community Garden

    The Cobham Community Garden encourages the community to engage in growing and eating local, sustainably produced fruit and vegetables. They manage their gardens through community involvement, and sell produce to members at a discounted price.

  • The Riverhouse Barn

    The Riverhouse Barn hosts a full program of creative, theatrical and musical events as well as hosting a daily not-for-profit Community Café. Local surplus food is used to create a tasty menu.

  • Healthy Travel Weybridge

    This Facebook Group is for anyone who is interested in making travel around Weybridge safer and more enjoyable for everyone, whether on foot or on wheels. The Weybridge Society wants to start a conversation about what stops people from walking and cycling and how to encourage more active forms of travel.

  • Surrey Climate Commission

    The Surrey Climate Commission fills a crucial gap between national and local efforts to accelerate the scale and pace of action to address climate change. Launched in June 2019, it’s a collaboration of organisations including Surrey University, Surrey Chambers of Commerce, Siemens, World Wildlife Fund and Surrey Wildlife Trust .

  • Eco-Schools

    The Eco-School movement is a global programme engaging 19.5 million children across 67 countries, making it the largest educational programme on the planet. For over 25 years Eco-Schools has been empowering children to drive change and improve their environmental awareness through the simple Seven-Step framework in order to achieve the international Eco-Schools Green Flag.

  • Climate Action Groups

    The next few years will determine the future of our world. We know the solutions to climate chaos and there’s still time to act – just. Climate Action groups are made up of people like you, working together to make our communities more climate-friendly. Together we can make a real difference, at a local and national level. Our local Climate Action group is led by Elmbridge Friends of the Earth.

    The Thames Ditton Foundation has the following groups under its auspices: Thames Ditton Boomerang Bags, Thames Ditton In Bloom, Plastic Free Thames Ditton, Thames Ditton Litter Pickers.

  • Thames 21 Project

    Thames21 is the voice for the Thames Valley waterways, working with communities to improve rivers and canals for people and wildlife.

    Amongst it’s many activities it hosts the annual Plasticblitz and leads empowering training courses for Healthy Rivers

  • Weybridge in Bloom

    WiB want to encourage residents and businesses to get involved and make Weybridge a brighter, cleaner and greener place in which to live, work, and do business.

    Weybridge in Bloom will help in getting people together; improving their local environment and creating spaces that are a source of pride and fun for people of all ages.

    Membership is open to all who live or work in Weybridge - we always need your help, so please join for free, donate or sponsor. It's fun, it's healthy and meet new like minded people!

    Elmbridge XR is a group of local people who want to be part of creating a world that is fit for generations to come. The global Extinction Rebellion movement, of which we are part, uses non- violent direct action and civil disobedience to persuade governments to act justly on the Climate and Ecological Emergency.

    Our current focus is on ‘growing the XR movement’ and highlighting how our planet and local environment is being destroyed by greenhouse gas emissions, and how we can all play a part in addressing this.

  • Weybridge WI Eco Warriors

    As an environmental sub-group of Weybridge WI, we believe that, in spite of the immensity of global environmental issues, there are solutions and we can make a difference.

    This Eco group exists to inspire each other by sharing ideas, encouraging each other and discovering what solutions we can action individually and collectively. Activities include Litter-picking and visits to refill stores and markets.

  • Broadwater Conservation Society

    The Broadwater Conservation Society (BCS) was formed in 1984 by local residents who were interested in clearing and dredging Broadwater Lake.

    We aim to turn the historic lake into a space for the local community to be proud of, whilst also securing its future as a habitat for plants, birds and wildlife to thrive, and a natural outdoor space for future generations to enjoy.

  • Chatterbus Charity

    Chatterbus is a charity that has been set up to provide a reliable bus service to help everyone, young or old, to get around the Cobham area more easily.

    The introduction of this bus service to run East-West between Cobham and Weybridge (plus Fetcham and Leatherhead on Saturdays) plugs a significant gap in the local transport system and complements existing bus services.

    Chatterbus services appear as routes C1 and C3 (weekday services) and C2 (Saturday service) in Surrey County Council bus timetables and on the front of the bus.

    The Eco Church movement aims to help churches and congregations improve how they care for God’s earth in different areas of their life and work.

  • * The Weybridge Society *

    The Weybridge Society works to further the interests of residents. We are non-political and open to all.

    As a charity, we have a group of Trustees and a Committee and we have monthly meetings. Anyone is welcome to attend, but do contact the Chairman if you’d like to come to a meeting to present information and/or learn more about becoming a member.

    Enthusiastic and pro-active persons are welcome to join our committee in any capacity. We’re always looking for people who want to track building developments, get involved in any of our local initiatives in areas like traffic or parking, or simply engage with a specific project.

    We are one of the strongest and longest-established Residents' Associations in England. If you have recently arrived in either the Thames Ditton or Weston Green wards, we offer you a warm welcome

    The Resident's Association acts for all those who live or work in the Elmbridge borough ward of Thames Ditton and the former ward of Weston Green (as it was until May 2016).

    The Cobham Conservation and Heritage Trust is a local charity which relies on vounteers to help run the Trust, promote local history and conservation issues and organise fund raising events such as our annual Cobham Heritage Day.
